Wire Binge

It’s May.  The garden is in and the semester is over, so you know what that means right?  Crafting Binge!  That always makes me feel a little like Kermit the Frog as he introduces the Muppet Show.

Nevermind.  This week I’ve been working on two very different sets of projects.  More of the other one later.  Today I wanted to show off some of the wire jewelry that I’ll be taking to Ruby Joust.  My friend Addie has agreed to take on some of my jewelry at her booth.  One request she made was for some circlets.  I’ve already handed over one of them, a baronet’s coronet, and I forgot to take pictures first.  Here are the other two that I worked up.

This one is sterling silver plated wire with garnet colored glass beads braided in.
This one has a brass wire woven in as well.

Each of these is made with a three stranded wire braid.  I’ve been working on four stranded ones as well, but they have been sold without pictures being taken.  Sigh.

In order to test out the concept, for the above pieces, I tried it out first with seed beads and copper wire.  I liked the look so much that I turned the test piece into a ring.

My daughter suggested I do one with pearls.  I made two, one for the booth and one for her.

As long as I had the pearls out…

Also in this style.

IMG_5604I also finished up a set of early Anglo-Saxon Clasps. (There are 5 pairs of these.)

blueringThat’s all for now.  Hopefully I’ll find time this weekend to get photos of the other pieces.
